The Christmas Angel

Welcome back to the Blog! It’s been awhile! I see my last post was pre-Pandemic, which should have given me adequate downtime to blog more, but no such luck. If you lock me and Matt in our home for two years, you are going to end up with mountains of content, which is exactly what we have!

In the past two years, and with the loving assistance of an amazing team of friends, we have written two full length musicals, and begun a third, Matt won a Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Direction of a Musical for his Direction of Beauty and the Beast, we launched a Conner & Smith Website, designed by Leigh Delano, converted our newsletter into a professional Mail Chimp distribution service, launched a very successful podcast that is shortly headed into its third season, continued developing content for our YouTube Channel and Pinterest page, and produced Matt’s parents’ book and cd!

That was a lot, we know! Now to the more recent entry into our catalogue: The Christmas Angel.

Premiering on December 9th at Creative Cauldron, The Christmas Angel is our 9th full length musical written together! Based on a 1910 story by Abbie Farwell Brown, The Christmas Angel tells of one Angelina Terry, who has hardened her heart against both Christmas, and her own Brother. After she discovers a box of toys in her attic that were once given to her by her estranged Brother, she decides to burn them to end the ties between her and her  brother once and for all. She has no idea that what she intends to happen that evening will be the last thing she ever imagined would.

Laura Connors Hull found this story and suggested that we take a look at it to consider for a stage adaptation. After we read it, we became obsessed! We could not believe this has never been adapted into a cartoon, storybook, movie, or anything further. As far as we can tell, we are the first ones to have done so with this little known gem.

Featuring Ryan Sellers (The Turn of the Screw), Carl Williams (Once Upon This Island), and Kanysha Williams (Always, Patsy Cline), heading an outstanding cast including Owen Thiebert (On Air) and Gabby Robles (Madeline’s Christmas), and many more, this production will be sure to bring a smile to your face as you tap your toes to a mix of original and traditional Holiday songs!

With only 9 performances available, we would advise you  to get your tickets ASAP before they are sold out!
